Report: Russia can participate in econ rehabilitation of Afghanistan

MOSCOW, Aug 30 (PRIME) -- Russia is ready to participate in the economic projects to reconstruct Afghanistan immediately, presidential aide for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov told channel Rossiya 24 on Monday.

"We have been always saying we are ready to participate in the international efforts for social and economic rehabilitation of the post-conflict Afghanistan. This moment has come," Kabulov said.

The official called on the Western countries not to freeze assets of the new authorities of the country.

"I want to say the following: if our Western colleagues care indeed about the fate of the Afghani people, they must not create additional hurdles by freezing the gold reserves of the Afghani state kept in the U.S. banks, they must open humanitarian corridors for aid supply to the people, thus not incentivizing them to flee the country," he added.
